LITTLE_R Tutorial : Introduction

Program LITTLE_R is the third program in the suite of MM5 system programs. This program reads in output from program REGRID (REGRID_DOMAINx), and observations (radiosonde and surface reports), performs an objective analysis which blends first guess with observations, and outputs data on pressure levels again (just like it is from REGRID).

The program functions of LITTLE_R are as those in RAWINS, but RAWINS is an older Fortran 77 package. We recommend running LITTLE_R rather than RAWINS. The advantages of LITTLE_R are that it is more user friendly and that it makes observation input easier to deal with for users who don't have access to NCAR's archived ADP data, as the input format is in ASCII format.

You should not be here if you have not successfully run the REGRID program.

If you do not plan on running Objective Analysis (LITTLE_R/RAWINS) you can skip this section and move directly to the INTERPF section.
