Greetings,

I have been in contact with a user, Steve Webb in the RAP division of NCAR, who has also been working to get the parallel MM5 running on a Linux PC cluster using PGF77 and MPICH. He has succeeded at getting the mpp version of the model to run on his machine, and he has created a web page that contains some detailed information about his experiences, including specific settings and changes that he had to make to get the version to run on his system.

He's done a very nice job here, and I think it may help with some of the problems you have told me about by email. I'm also very interested in hearing about your experiences, so please keep me on the cc list for any subsequent exchanges.

I don't know if this will work for all LinuxPC systems, because there seems to be a relatively wide variation between systems that makes having one general set of settings for Linux PC's difficult to distribute with the code (for example, the settings that are in there now did work on one such installation, which is how they found their way into the code.)

Thanks for your patience, and thank you, Steve, for putting this together.

John
