The unstructured variable resolution meshes can be generated having smoothly-varying mesh transitions (see figure *(a)* below), which ameliorates many issues associated with the traditional mesh refinement strategy of one-way and two-way grid nesting where the transitions are abrupt. The flexibility of the MPAS meshes allows for applications in high-resolution numerical weather prediction (NWP) and regional climate, in addition to global uniform-resolution NWP and climate applications. .. container:: col-md-5 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card-body-rightside .. figure:: ./images/mpas_mesh.png :width: 350 .. container:: row m-0 p-0 .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Documentation & Resources `_ .. container:: card-body `Overview of MPAS-A <./mpas_overview.html>`_ |br| `MPAS-A User Guide <./documentation/users_guide.html>`_ |br| `MPAS-A Code Contributor Guide `_ |br| `MPAS Mesh Specification `_ |br| `MPAS-A Tutorial Practice Guide `_ .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Access Code `__ .. container:: card-body Information and links to MPAS-A source code, static geographical datasets, meshes, and input files for real-data and idealized test cases .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `GPU-enabled MPAS-A `__ .. container:: card-body Documentation specific to GPU-enabled MPAS-A, including important notes, supported platforms, obtaining, compiling, and running GPU-enabled MPAS. .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Visualization and Analysis Tools `__ .. container:: card-body Example scripts for plotting MPAS-A simulation output |br| |br| |br| .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `News & Events `_ .. container:: card-body Find announcements and details about MPAS-A Workshops and Tutorials (including a tutorial practice guide) .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Publications `_ .. container:: card-body Access a list of known MPAS-relevant publications, as well as non peer-reviewed presentations .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: Other Flavors of MPAS .. container:: card-body Access other MPAS systems, managed by groups outside of NSF NCAR * `MPAS Data Assimilation <./mpas_da.html>`_ * `MPAS-Albany Land Ice <./mpas_albany_land_ice.html>`_ * `MPAS-Ocean <./mpas_ocean.html>`_ * `MPAS-Seaice <./mpas_seaice.html>`_ | | | .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 4 :hidden: Documentation Access Code GPU-enabled MPAS-A Visualization News & Events Publications |
