About the Replicator Size Distribution Data
The ascii file gives size distributions at each level analyzed in the
cloud, with binning specified in the header. A crude visual
classification of the two dominant crystal habits at each level is also given.
As described in the header, the standard suggestion is to ascribe the first
habit listed to 2/3 of the particles and the second habit to 1/3 of the
particles. (Note that a correlation often exists between
habit and size, which is not discernible from this simple classification.)
Examples of habits
Q=Quasi-spherical (high area-ratio), C=Columnar, R=Rosette, I=Irregular
The gif plot shows the same size distributions as given in the ascii file,
with numbers that give the total concentration, mean
diameter, and the simple habit classification. The plot was
scanned at high resolution (300dpi) and then scaled to a reasonable size
for viewing or printing from a browser. If the actual gif image is
downloaded, it will be huge when printed
unless converted to a different image format.
