For the WRF Project to be successful,
it must meet the needs of a variety of
operational organizations and research
applications. Over time, the scientists
and organizations that are interested
in WRF may change, and the WRF Science
Board is intended to accommodate the involvement
of the evolving
constituency. This Board provides technical
advice and guidance to the WRF
development effort to help ensure that
WRF will meet the needs of a broad
community in both research and operations.
The WRF Coordinator and Development
Team Leaders will discuss plans and progress
with the Board and encourage their
involvement in both development and evaluation
of the modeling system. Board
members are encouraged to participate
in the WRF development activities. The
Board is convened annually in association
with the WRF Users Workshop (or more
often if issues warrant) and ongoing discussions
are conducted via email and web
postings.
Appointments to the WSB are made by the
WRF Oversight Board, and have finite
terms (say three years). WSB members should
be active participants in the WRF
development effort, and should have sufficient
interest in the project that
they can accommodate the time and travel
expenses necessary to serve in this
capacity. Representatives from agencies
providing significant funding for WRF
may also be invited to attend meetings
of the WSB to help keep them informed
of the progress of the project.
Potential organizations (and possible representatives)
to be represented on the
WSB is listed below:
