Weather Research and Forecasting Model ====================================== The Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) is a state-of-the-art atmospheric modeling system designed for both meteorological research and numerical weather prediction. It offers a host of options for atmospheric processes and can run on a variety of computing platforms. WRF excels in a broad range of applications across scales ranging from tens of meters to thousands of kilometers, including meteorological studies, real-time NWP, idealized simulations, data assimilation, Earth system model coupling, and model training and educational support. WRF is a community model, with the bulk of its development and support taking place in the Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology (MMM) Laboratory at NSF NCAR. WRF code is free, open-source code, available to everyone to obtain. | .. container:: row m-0 p-0 .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Access Code and Related Packages `__ |br| .. container:: card-body Access WRF & WPS code, data, static fields, post-processing, utility packages, and code testing/benchmarking information. .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: Documentation .. container:: card-body * `WRF Users' Guide <./documentation/users_guide/overview.html>`_ * `Frequently Asked Questions `_ * `WRF & WPS Best Practices `_ * `WRF Technical Note <./documentation/technote.html>`_ * `WRF Physics <./documentation/physics.html>`_ * `Using NSF NCAR'S Derecho HPC <./documentation/using_derecho.html>`_ .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Online Learning Tools `__ .. container:: card-body Find online material and tutorials on installing and running the WRF model and its applications. .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: `Code Contribution `__ .. container:: card-body Information on contribution to the WRF code. .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: Quick Links .. container:: card-body * `NSF NCAR/MMM WRF Real-time Forecast `_ * `NSF NCAR MMM `_ * `NSF NCAR|UCAR `_ * `NSF NCAR Computation and Information Systems Lab `_ * `Unidata (netCDF) `_ .. container:: col-md-6 pl-0 pr-3 py-3 m-0 .. container:: card px-0 h-60 .. rst-class:: card-header h4 .. rubric:: Other Flavors of WRF .. container:: card-body Access other WRF systems, managed by groups outside of the basic WRF model support and development team * `WRFDA `_ * `WRF-Chem `_ * `WRF for Hurricanes `_ * `WRF for Wildland Fire `_ * `WRF-Hydro `_ * `WRF-Solar `_ * `WRF-Urban `_ * `WRF-HYSPLIT `_ * `COAWST `_ .. toctree:: :hidden: :maxdepth: 3 Access Code & Packages online_learning_tools.rst code_contribution.rst support.rst news_events.rst Users Guide <./documentation/users_guide/overview.rst>
