Bureau, Taipei, Taiwan
WRF-based
deterministic and ensemble prediction systems have been operational at Central
Weather Bureau of Taiwan in recent years. These model systems are designed and
tuned in order to well reveal the uniqueness of the weather systems over
subtropical East Asia, including the monsoon system, winter storm, and in
particular typhoons.
Impact of the improvements from several aspects will be introduced in the
presentation, including the tuning of the model physics process, the design of
the data assimilation strategy, the use of the local observations, and the
effort on the typhoon vortex initialization. The verification is also presented
to demonstrate the performance of the high resolution QPF and surface forecast
over Taiwan Island.
