The Total Energy - Mass
Flux (TEMF) PBL scheme has been run for cases in California (CalNex) and France
(BLLAST). In the BLLAST case, TEMF
helps to correct biases in the daytime PBL, but the biases may be primarily due
to the land surface model and treatment.
TEMF also allows for weak turbulence at night, which is supported by the
data. I will discuss the
challenges of model comparison and evaluation for this real 3D complex-terrain
case.
