6.1    Explicit Prediction of Supercooled Liquid Water and Application    to Aircraft and Ground Icing Problems

Thompson, Gregory, National Center for Atmospheric Research, RAL

This presentation will discuss the direct application of the Thompson et al (2008) microphysics scheme to the problems of aircraft and ground icing conditions using explicit prediction of supercooled liquid water.  In addition, the inclusion of explicit aerosols activating to become cloud droplets and ice crystals will be discussed.
