With one-way or two way grid nesting, high-resolution mesoscale models are widely used for operational system. However, because of their lateral boundary condition (LBC) problem, there is new approach (Model Prediction Across Scale  -MPAS) which allow having high-resolution as a tiling of the sphere. In this study, we will evaluate the ability to solve multiresolution meshes using MPAS and nested-WRF simulation. An idealized normal mode baroclinic wave test case is explored from global to high-resolution regional domain to investigate the effect of LBC for both nesting and conformal grid. We will show the main differences occurred from lateral boundary area and the possibility of reflection for these errors.
