10.4 MPAS: The model for prediction across scales
Skamarock, Bill, Michael Duda, Laura Fowler, Joe Klemp, and Sang-Hun Park, National Center for Atmospheric Research
We will present an update on MPAS, a global
nonhydrostatic atmospheric model using global variable-resolution centroidal
Voronoi meshes and much of the numerics and physics from the Advanced Research
WRF model. MPAS provides a global-model complement to WRF and provides
limited-area refinement without the issues associated with 1-way and 2-way
nesting in WRF. We anticipate MPAS will be released shortly before this
workshop.
