To
evaluate the influence of weather and climate change on the electric power
facilities for the stable electricity supply and energy securities, the
reanalysis downscaling for 53 years were conducted over Japan region. WRF-ARW
is used for a regional climate model. This model has been improved for applying
to regional climate prediction.
We
conducted 53-year weather and climate reproduction runs form1958 to 2010. This
model used two way nesting (15km and 5km), and boundary conditions are obtained
from the ECMWF reanalysis data (T106). Two kind of ECMWF reanalysis dataset are
used, one is ERA40 (period: 1958-1988), another is ERA-Interim (period:
1989-2010), and the continuous integration runs were conducted for each
reanalysis dataset.
First,
the effect of lateral boundary conditions (LBCs) was discussed using GPH at
500hPa and RH at 700hPa, and it showed that the error in the model did not
accumulate during the continuous integration runs. Second, the reproduction
runs were evaluated using weather observation stations, and the results showed
that the model results good agreements with observations. Finally, we obtained
that the climatic characteristics of this model have the capability of
reproduction and forecasting about the climate with high accuracy.
