1.1 The Weather Research and Forecasting Model: 2017 Annual Update

The talk will overview changes made for WRF Version 3.8.1 and new features in WRF Version 3.9 just released in April 2017. This release sees the introduction of the hybrid eta-pressure vertical coordinate option, the new Predicted Particle Property (P3) microphysics scheme, urban options extended to NoahMP, upgrades and improvements to various schemes, and improved trajectory and climate diagnostic capabilities. This release also introduces the concept of physics suites with two being defined so far, a 'CONUS' suite and a 'tropical' suite, that can be namelist-selected.
