1.2 WRFDA 2017 Update.

In this presentation, the new features from the latest release of WRFDA version 3.9 will be firstly introduced, including all-sky radiance data assimilation, hybrid-4DEnVar algorithm, WRFDA adaption for new vertical coordinate of WRF, and a user-contributed capability for no-rain radar data assimilation. Other important updates and bug-fixes will also be highlighted. Some ongoing research and developments will then be described. Especially, we will demonstrate some results of assimilating geostationary satellite clear-sky infrared radiances and all-sky microwave radiances. Progress on multi-resolution incremental 4DVAR will also be presented. Lastly, some initial development for global MPAS data assimilation in a hybrid-EnVar framework will briefly informed.
