4.6 Noah-MP Land Model Development and Future Directions

Several new capabilities were introduced into the Noah-MP land surface model in the WRF v3.9 release. Some of these new options are fully-functional and others are still considered experimental. This talk will discuss the linking of the single-layer and multi-layer urban canopy models with Noah-MP and also the inclusion of new datasets to support the crop dynamics and groundwater modules. The upcoming ability to define vertical-varying soil properties will also be presented.
