P41 An application of WRF for a hydropower plant in Laos

This research aims to evaluate the application of WRF for a hydropower plant in Laos.

Rainfall prediction is used for efficient operation of hydropower plant with huge reservoir and in order to maximize the benefit of hydropower project. In operation of hydropower plant, it is important to predict amount of precipitation over a few days to a week inside the dam-basin.

We constructed a rainfall prediction system using WRF v.3.5.1, and evaluate the accuracy of forecast through comparison with daily observed precipitation data for the period from June to October, 2016.

The comparison results will be presented at the workshop.
