MPAS-A Open-Source Development: How You Can Get Involved

B. Skamarock and M. Duda, MMM/NCAR

Since its first public release, MPAS-A has been distributed as an open-source model; yet, most of the development work has occurred within the MMM Laboratory. With a view towards increasing participation by the community in MPAS-A development, this session will describe the current and anticipated process for bringing new development into MPAS-A; it will provide a brief overview of the structure and design of the MPAS-A code; and it will outline several areas where the MMM Laboratory would like to encourage community contributions to MPAS-A.
