The mission of the Mesoscale Prediction Group (MPG) is to develop advanced mesoscale modeling and data assimilation systems for applications in numerical weather prediction and apply these models to research in cyclones, fronts, and mesoscale convective systems. In addition, the MPG develops and maintains the MM5 model.
