Get Terrestrial Input Data

There are several variations of the geographical static data that you might be interested in downloading for your runs. You can see a table here that shows the different data available. Typically you will want to use the "Complete Dataset," but keep in mind the dataset is large (~29 GB, uncompressed). Create a directory to place this tar file in, and unpack it inside that directory.

NCAR - Cheyenne Users

These data are available on all the NCAR Cheyenne machines, so there is no need to download or copy the data to your working area. To use these data, all you need to do is set the 'geog_data_path' parameter in the namelist.wps file to:
/glade/u/home/wrfhelp/WPS_GEOG

If multiple users need to run WPS, place a single copy where everyone has access to these data. That will help to save space on your working cluster.
