Tutorial Case Study
In this tutorial,
we will be using the Storm of the Century (SOC, March 1993) case
as the example. This is the case described in the online Tutorial
Notes. We suggest that you start by running through the modeling
system programs at least once using the SOC case. This serves
two purposes: First you can learn how to run the programs, and
second you can test whether your computer is adequate to run the
entire modeling system. After you have done this tutorial, you
can try either to change the domain settings to something similar
to what you'll be using the model for, but still using the test
input data, or use data from another case. For extra examples/test
data, refer to the "Examples" under each program session.
If you don't know anything about MM5, you should first read the
Overview
on MM5 home page, and the Introduction in the Tutorial
Notes. Also view the Introduction
presented at the bi-annual tutorials.
