Update SSTs at the Initial Time Only

When SST data are added to the model at the initial time only, the SST field is used as a constant field for all time periods of the simulation.

Geogrid

The geo_em.d01.nc output file from the Single Domain exercise will be used for this exercise. If you do not have this file, go back to the Single Domain exercise and repeat the geogrid section.

Run Ungrib to Unpack SST Data Files

In addition to SST input, the FILE: intermediate-formatted data will be used for this exercise. If you do not have this file, go back to the Single Domain exercise and repeat the ungrib section.

To unpack the SST files, follow the instructions below.

1. Move into the WPS/ directory.

2. Open namelist.wps and make changes so that it uses the same settings as below.
