MM5 Model Version 3 : Release emails to users

Dear MM5 users,
This email announces the release 3-2 of MM5 model Version 3.
MM5 and MPP source code tar files are updated on anonymous ftp site,
NCAR's MSS, and Cray-accessible disk since Sept 24, 1999.

The highlights of the 3-2 releases include:

1. Capability of inputting variable levels of soil temperature
and moisture for LSM option.

Improved capability of running one-way nest using LSM option.
-
Better tested MPP version of MM5.
-
Bug fixes for MM5 and MPP MM5.
The detailed changes are described in the CHANGES file in the top
directory of the new tar file. The new tar file can be obtained
from several locations, including NCAR's MSS and anonymous ftp.
The detailed changes are provided in Diff/diff.24SEP99 inside the
tar file.
For those of you who have started to use V3 codes, we recommend
that you switch to 3-2 release as soon as possible, or implement
bug fixes to your version. Make sure you also update your job deck.
There have been several major bug fixes for 3-1 release in MM5 and
MPP MM5. For details on these bug fixes, please refer to the above
Web page or CHANGES/diff files.
For those of you who are thinking of using V3, please read the 'Introduction
to V3' Web page before you start.
We would like to thank those who have provided us valuable feedback
on the new V3 programs. The feedback is very important in making
the new system robust and error-free.
