MM5 Pre-Processing Programs Version 3 : Release emails
to users
|
Dear MM5 V3 users,
This email announces the release 3-4 of Version 3 preprocessing
programs: TERRAIN, REGRID, RAWINS, LITTLE_R, INTERPF, NESTDOWN,
and GRAPH. New program RIP was released a few days ago.
All source code tar files are updated on anonymous ftp site, NCAR's
MSS, and Cray-accessible disk since Nov 6, 2000.
For information on where to obtain the 3-3 source code, please see
http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/mm5v3.html
The highlight of changes in each program is described in the CHANGES
file in each of the program tar file. They are also poste on the
Web:
http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/mm5v3/changes-v3.html
-
TERRAIN: addition of 2 minute input datasets; revision of
terrain.deck;
-
REGRID: using interpolation to obtain missing surface fields;
distinguishing SST from skin temperature;
-
INTERPF: producing time-varying SST/snow cover/sea ice in
LOWBDY files;
these time-varying fields may be updated during long MM5 simulations.
-
All pre-processing programs are ported to Linux PC using PGI
compiler.
For those of you who are thinking of using V3, please read the
'Introduction to V3' Web page before you start. A newly updated
Tutorial Notes/Users' Guide for Version 3 is also available from
URL:

Also available online is a teach-yourself-tutorial that leads users
to learn how to operate the V3 programs:
