MM5 Pre-Processing Programs Version 3 : Release emails
to users

Dear MM5 V3 users,
This email announces the release 3-6 of Version 3 pre- and post-processing
programs: TERRAIN, REGRID, RAWINS, LITTLE_R, INTERPF, NESTDOWN,
INTERPB, GRAPH, RIP, MM5toGrADS.
All source code tar files are updated on anonymous ftp site, NCAR's
MSS, and IBM-accessible disk since December 27, 2002.

The highlights of the changes in each program is described in the
CHANGES file in each of the program tar file. They are also posted

The major changes include:

REGRID can now process AFWA AGRMET data. This dataset provides
extra surface fields (SOIL temperature/moisture/etc.) which
can be used as input to MM5's new LSM (Noah). More information
about how to obtain and use this dataset will be available on
the Web. REGRID can also ingest maximum snow albedo and monthly
albedo data to be optionally used with the new Noah LSM in MM5.

REGRID can now also process seaice fraction data for use in
MM5's polar physics modification option. If you plan to use
this, please read the README file under REGRID/pregrid/nise
for instructions and directions to the data.

INTERPF/INTERPB and NESTDOWN has been modified to process
these new data fields.
INTERPB now generate intermediate files for Mercator projections.
NCAR has discommissioning its last Cray in September 2002.
For those of you who still have important MM5 files, in Cray format,
we have a conversion program available that will run on the IBM's
