Practice Exercises

Welcome to the WRF Tutorial Practice Exercises!

Important

• Complete the Derecho HPC Computing Environment Setup before moving to the exercises.

• Once your HPC environment is setup, complete the Initial Exercise and then the Single Domain case before other exercises.

• Save output files, as later exercises may require them.

• You are not required to complete all exercises; after completing the Initial Exercise and the Single Domain case, focus on those relevant to your research.

• Once comfortable, try the Set-up and Run Your Own Case exercise.

• Note that any command(s) included in a black code box is copyable. Hover over the right hand side of the box to reveal a “copy” icon, then click on that icon.

• Refer to the WRF-ARW User’s Guide and recorded lectures, as needed.

• New Unix users should complete this quick exercise to become familiar with common commands.

• Click on teal-colored dropdown boxes throughout the exercises to access additional useful information.
