Virtual Meeting Rules and Etiquette

  1. Test your virtual setup beforehand.

    • Make sure Zoom is installed and works properly.

    • Test the camera and microphone, and know where certain components are - chat, hand raise, how to go to breakout rooms, etc.

  2. When using Zoom, please have your first and last name displayed. This helps instructors to know who we are working with, and adds security for the meeting.

  3. Always keep your mic muted unless you are speaking.

  4. If you have a question, either raise your hand or use the chat to ask a quick question. Please do not interrupt others when they are talking.

    • During practice sessions, only use the hand-raising option to let us know you have a question or problem. If an instructor is available, they will see your raised hand and invite you to a breakout room for a private discussion.

  5. Turn on your cameras if possible - this helps everyone feel more comfortable, knowing who is in the session.

    • Make sure you are appropriately dressed if your camera is on.

    • You may choose to blur your background, or to add a background.

  6. Be conscious of time and considerate of others. During Q&A’s, try not to take up too much time with questions that aren’t beneficial to others.

    • If you have specific questions regarding your simulation, use practice sessions later in the week to ask instructors one-on-one.

    • During practice sessions, breakout rooms with instructors will be timed. This is to allow all participants a fair amount of time to discuss questions with instructors. Please be respectful of this.

  7. Instructors will not be able to stay online past the ending time of the sessions, due to other work or personal obligations. Please be respectful of this.

  8. Feel free to leave or take breaks from live sessions whenever needed! There is no need to inform us if you need to go or to step away.
